A knocked-out tooth, a jaw that won't stop throbbing, or swelling that's getting worse by the hour — our Emergency Dentist line is answered live, day or night, and we triage by phone before you even arrive.
Every Smile Center Dentistry office offering Emergency Dentist is held to the same four standards, verified before the office ever joins our network.
Phone triage determines urgency in under two minutes, so you know whether to come in now or first thing in the morning.
We hold appointment slots specifically for emergencies rather than filling every hour with routine work.
Offices stock re-implantation kits and storage media for knocked-out teeth, since the first 30 to 60 minutes matter most.
Emergency visits still come with a written estimate before treatment — panic shouldn't mean paying blind.
Here's the range of Emergency Dentist our Buzzards Bay team handles most, described the way we'd explain it chairside rather than in marketing language.
Throbbing pain, especially pain that worsens lying down, often signals an infected nerve that needs same-day attention. Drainage of an abscess, when needed, is typically done the same visit.
Time is the biggest factor in saving a knocked-out tooth — we walk you through storage and transport on the phone while you're on your way. Even teeth that can't be saved outright often have options we can discuss on arrival.
Sharp fragments are smoothed and the tooth stabilized the same visit while we plan any needed restoration. Some fractures need only bonding; others need a crown or, rarely, extraction.
If the original restoration can be reused, we'll often just re-seat it rather than starting over. A permanent fix is scheduled once we've confirmed the tooth underneath is sound.
We assess whether swelling is localized to a tooth or represents something requiring more immediate attention. Never ignore swelling that's spreading toward the eye or down the neck — call immediately.
Dry socket, unusual bleeding, or pain that worsens rather than improves after a procedure gets same-day attention. Most post-procedure complications resolve with a short, targeted visit.
No mystery about what happens between calling us and walking out with the problem addressed.
Phone staff are trained to ask the right questions to gauge how urgent your situation really is.
For trauma cases especially, the first few minutes of guidance can change the outcome.
On arrival, we examine, take X-rays if needed, and give you a written estimate before treating.
Most emergencies are stabilized the same visit, with any remaining work scheduled as a clear next step.
These are unedited, from patients who've actually been through Emergency Dentist treatment with us in the past year.
“Called at 10 PM about a knocked-out tooth and they talked me through keeping it moist the entire drive in. They actually saved it.”
“Woke up with my jaw swollen on one side and they got me in within two hours and drained an abscess I didn't know I had.”
“A crown fell out during dinner and they re-cemented it the same night before closing. Didn't expect that kind of availability.”
“The phone triage alone was worth it — they figured out it wasn't an emergency and saved me an unnecessary late-night trip.”
“Cracked a molar on a piece of ice and was seen the next morning first thing. Clear pricing before anything happened.”
Straight answers to what people actually want to know before committing to Emergency Dentist.
Knocked-out teeth, uncontrolled bleeding, facial swelling, and severe unrelenting pain all count — call and we'll confirm over the phone.
Most emergency cases are seen within hours of calling, not days.
Try gently placing it back in the socket if possible, then get to us within 30 minutes for the best odds.
You'll get a written estimate before treatment starts, even in an emergency — the visit isn't a blank check.
Yes — the emergency line is answered around the clock, even when the office itself opens later.
Call anyway — it costs nothing to ask, and we'd rather confirm it's not urgent than have you wait out something serious.
We can usually confirm same-week availability for Emergency Dentist before you even finish describing your situation.
Our Emergency Dentist line covers Buzzards Bay and the surrounding area around the clock, with same-day slots reserved specifically for urgent cases. Same-day availability varies by hour, but the phone line itself is always staffed.
